World Laughter Day was a concept that has been initiated to bond global brotherhood and friendship through laughter. It was the brainchild of Dr. Madan Kataria who is also the founder of Laughter Yoga Movement which embraces worldwide yoga clubs and movements. It is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year but the first celebration was on January 10th 1998 in Mumbai, India under the leadership of Dr. Madan Kataria.

This year has been a very successful one for me. I hope that next year is as wonderful as this. The new year is just around the corner; there are several parties being organized everywhere, but I am planning to spend it in a different way. I am thinking to go trekking with my buddies and spend the New Year’s night on a campsite.

It is known for hosting a variety of events that include competitions, exhibitions, lectures as well as workshops. It is aimed to develop and showcase technical prowess. A very well-known festival among the students, academia, corporates and the general public. It is a 3 day grand event.

The Enchanted Valley Carnival commonly known as EVC is a unique festival held in the December month of every year. It is the first-ever music festival in Asia with a fully-fledged campsite along with professional adventure sport and other distinct experiences. I am planning to experience the fun of this carnival this December as I like to spend my leisure time with nature.

Feel the richness of classical music by being a part of the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav which is the biggest festival of classical music in India. It is organized by the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal and was founded by Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. It is held in December month of every year. I had the opportunity to be a part if this musical journey last year and the experience was just amazing!

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was popular for his social reforms and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables. He was a hero for the women and labour community. On 6th December every year, people from all over India come to pay homage to Babasaheb Ambedkar at Dadar’s Chaityabhoomi where his last rites were performed. On 6 December every year I visit Dadar without fail to my tribute.

The Prabhodini Ekadashi falls on November 22 this year and families all over India are preparing for it. The event consists of the family members fasting for a day with a prayer on their lips for the wellness of the family. The day itself is dedicated to the Indian god Vishnu who is known to be the preserver of all good things.

One day in our country when the children are entertained by adults is the Children’s day. It is celebrated in honor of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru who was very fond of kids and youth. This is the reason his birthday is celebrated as the national children’s day. Schools all over the country put up performances for the kids as a part of the festivities and there is distribution of sweets.

The sunburn festival is taking place in Mumbai this year at the Mahalaxmi Race Course this year and the organizers promise unlimited fun and frolic. They say that the event is especially for the younger party goers and it is scheduled on Friday, November 13. The party starts at 7 pm in the evening and is an ideal weekend break.
