On a summer day, I find that there’s nothing better than a nice cool drink of something refreshing to quench my thirst and stay hydrated.
Summers are always a busy time of the year for me, but even if it is. I make sure I stay hydrated. There are plenty of reasons to stay well hydrated. For one thing, an inch close to dehydration and your mood and energy levels will dip making it hard to focus on, well, pretty much anything.
To ward off the side-effects of a dry spell the trick is to stay at optimum levels. So, beat the heat and quench your thirst this summer with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, refreshing summery drinks. Be it a tall glass of beer or citrus-y lemonade, there’s nothing like a cold glass to wash down the summer heat.
Water is always the best option but there’s nothing like a Cinderella mocktail, a Citrus Cooler or Coco-Punch Delight to calm the soul. For the more daring, a Watermelon Tequila cocktail or a Colorado cooler can take you to another place. This is a selection of my favourites.
Now let’s talk about some of the crowd-pleasers when it comes to summer drinks, the first on the list is of course – a glass of cold water. Nothing can ever replace the refreshing, goodness of plain, clear water. Next on the list would be lemonade. Summers and lemonades are closely associated. Few things are more enjoyable than sipping a tall, cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day.
Sometimes I feel like the best thing to combat a hot day is coconut water or tender-coconut (as my mother calls it) also known as elixir for those who need to survive the hot, steamy tropics. What many of you may not know is that these are high in potassium and calcium, this makes it one of the healthiest drinks for the summer.
Summers keep getting hotter and hotter, especially in the cities with all the pollution and traffic. I find that it is in places like these that people should be extra careful around the summer, keeping yourself hydrated should be at the top of your list.
